Hoon Songs

Take me to the Hoon Banter Board

Take Me Home!!

Those were the hoons my friend

(to the tune Those were the days my friend)

Once upon a time in old Hunstanton,
All the merry hoons did sing & play,
Thru sessions they would while away the hours,
Exchanging mindless banter all the way.

Those were the hoons, my friend,
Their sessions never end,
The steam would flow for ever & a year,
They drink the flagon at dawn,
Until the last is drawn,
Those were the hoons, oh yes they were the hoons.

Now all those crazy days went flying past us,
As work returned to change our hoonish ways,
Deadlines, meetings, courses tried to bore us,
But banter helped resist them every day.

Those were the hoons, my friend,
I thought they'd never end,
They'd sing & dance for ever & a year,
They'd drink the flagon at dawn,
Until the last was drawn,
Those were the hoons, oh yes they were the hoons.

So tonight alone I stand before the tavern,
Nothing seems quite like it used to be,
Where are those hoons who used to entertain us,
Of all the hoons the only left is me.

We were the hoons, my friend,
I thought we'd never end,
We'd sing & dance for ever & a year,
We'd drink the flagon at dawn,
Until the last was drawn,
We were the hoons, oh yes we were the hoons.

Then from the door I heard familiar laughter,
And singing very raucous just the same,
It seems the hoons are drunk and non-the-wiser,
The steaming hoonish dreaming still remains.

We are the hoons, my friend,
I knew we'd never end,
We sing & dance for ever & a year,
We drink the flagon at dawn,
Until the last is drawn,
We are the hoons, oh yes we are the hoons.
